Gopal Bhar’s Hilsa Fish Trick
In the colorful kingdom of Raja Krishna Chandra, there lived a clever barber named Gopal who always had a trick up his sleeve. One year, when the delicious Hilsa fish season arrived, the entire kingdom went fish-crazy! People chattered about Hilsa recipes, prices, and catches instead of their daily work—even the king’s royal advisors forgot about court matters!
Frustrated, King Raja announced: “Fifty gold coins to whoever can bring a Hilsa to the palace without anyone mentioning the fish!”
For days, fishermen, merchants, and nobles tried—but the moment people spotted the shiny Hilsa, they’d shout, “Ooooh, what a big fish!” and the challenge would be lost.
Then Gopal hatched a plan. He shaved half his beard, smeared mud on his face, wore rags inside-out, and strutted to the market like a madman. He bought the biggest Hilsa… then casually carried it through town, swinging it in plain sight!
But nobody noticed the fish—they were too busy gasping at Gopal’s wild appearance! “Has Gopal gone crazy?” “Why is his shirt backwards?!” Even the palace guards were so shocked, they barely glanced at the Hilsa.
When Gopal flopped the fish before the king, Raja Krishna burst out laughing. “You genius! You made yourself so ridiculous, the Hilsa became invisible!” True to his word, the king rewarded Gopal with fifty gold coins—and one piece of advice: “Please take a bath!”
Moral:
Sometimes the best way to solve a problem is to approach it sideways!
A little creativity can turn obstacles into opportunities—and madness into gold!
